WHAT A BURGER!........................
IF we had one anywhere near our place, we’d be there. We have the usual suspects plus ‘In N Out’ and ‘five guys’ but not thrilled with either.
I’m sure some old guy will come along and tell everyone how much better a Whataburger was back in the old days. Oh, wait, that would be me.
Back in the early 70s the Whataburgers were literally the size of small dinner plate, maybe 8 inches across. At the time the best burger I ever had. Now of course there are a lot of burger joints that make all kinds of expensive burgers. Back then the competition was mainly McDonalds or Hardees, and they couldn’t compare to Whataburger. I’ve been to Whataburger a few times in the past few years, they’re still good, but they’re not available nearby, I run across them while traveling.
Thumbs up!
They have Whataburgers outside of Texas now?
Water burgers!
Pronounced “Water Burger” here in Central Texas.
Suddenly I’m very hungry!
My daughter’s favorite joint for a burger. When we stop, I use to order the fish dinner. Loved their fish patties. And yes, that was past-tense. They now only sell fish during lent. Everytime we stop, I make it a point I want the fish back. No one there can tell me why they dropped this fantastic menu item. Still got great burger and fries though.
A ritual for me, when I go to Ft. Walton Beach on our annual vacation, lunch on Monday is at the Whataburger on Miracle Strip. Was just there a month ago.
Can’t afford it anymore. I got a green chile double a few weeks ago, and the sandwich alone was just over $8 including tax. I’m done.
*yuck* The burgers taste like barf. I mean that literally, like acidic barf.
When family and friends from up north come down to visit me here in the Florida panhandle they always insist on having at least one What-a-burger meal before heading back home.
Looks like I picked the wrong time to quit eating fatty foods.
In-n-Out
On June 14, 2019, the Dobson family sold its majority stake in the company to BDT Capital, a Chicago-based investment company. The companies cited long term expansion plans as one reason for the sale. Much of the current leadership will remain, but they will take on new roles within the company. Ed Nelson, currently serving as chief financial officer and controller, was promoted to president.[7] The company said that Whataburger’s headquarters will remain in San Antonio.
I get Whataburger at least once every trip I take to the Florida Panhandle.
My youngest son and I ate at the Gulf Breeze Florida location after visiting Gulf Shores Nat’l Seashore/Fort Pickens this summer. Hit the spot after touring the old fort and other sites (lots of steps).
*** NATIONAL CHEESEBURGER DAY | SEPTEMBER 18***
I just put this on the family calendar as a reminder.
Thanks!
We just made our dinner plans!
:-)
There’s a Whataburger about a mile from my house. Been there too many times. It has gone downhill since the ownership change and the help is spotty at best.
