During the past day, 37 combat clashes took place. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding the defense in the Kupiansk, Bakhmut, Mariinka, Avdiivka directions. In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russians unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position in the Robotyne area.
This is stated in the morning summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Censor.NET informs.
In the VOLYN and POLISSIA directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
In the SIVERSK and SLOBOZHANSK directions, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery attacks on more than 30 settlements, in particular, Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Hremiach, Hrynivka of the Chernihiv region; Basivka, Stepok, Volfyne, PaSKlivka in the Sumy region and Udy, Okhrimivka, Neskuchne, Bochkove, Ambarne in the Kharkiv region.
In the KUPYAN direction, our soldiers are firmly holding the defense. They successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka, north of Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, and south of Novoselivske in the Luhansk region. The enemy launched airstrikes in the Kruhliakivka and Kucherivka districts of the Kharkiv region. More than 15 settlements, including Dvorichna, Zapadne, Petropavlivka, Podoly, Krasne, Kupiansk, and Vuzlove of the Kharkiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the AVDIIVKA direction, under heavy fire from the enemy’s aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the Avdiivka area. Keramik, Nevelske, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Severne, Tonenke, Novokalynove, Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
In the MARINKA direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the Marinka area. The enemy launched an air strike there. Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Hostre, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
In the SHAKHTARSKE direction, the enemy carried out an air strike in the Odradne region of the Donetsk region. Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechistivka, Zolota Nyva, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Storozheve, Staromayorske and Rivnopil of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

When asked whether the aid the US provides for Ukraine will change if Donald Trump becomes the next US president, Miller said that support for Ukraine will be enshrined in bilateral agreements that will remain valid regardless of who the president of the US is.
Miller said that the Biden administration has to cement long-term security agreements that will outlast any administration and any government, both in the US and among US allies and partners who have made long-term commitments to Ukraine’s security.
Miller also said that the Biden administration is negotiating such bilateral security commitments with Ukraine; he added that the decision to continue supporting Ukraine is ultimately down to the US Congress.
Every time the US presidential administration asked Congress for more support for the government of Ukraine, the Ukrainian military and the people of Ukraine, Congress has always agreed, Miller said, adding that he expects that to continue.
BACKGROUND:
• Ukraine began negotiations with the United States on Thursday, 3 August, on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
• The Group of Seven (G7) countries agreed on a framework document setting out security guarantees for Ukraine at the NATO Summit in Vilnius. G7 leaders did not agree on the specifics of the security guarantees, but set out a general framework, with specific bilateral agreements to be signed later.
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that as of 2 August, 12 countries have joined the Joint Declaration of the G7 on security guarantees for Ukraine.

As Censor.NET informs with reference to Interfax-Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevaty, Deputy Commander of the Eastern Group of Forces for Strategic Communications, announced this on the air of the national telethon.
“Our military continues to put pressure on the enemy and keep the initiative in the Bakhmut direction. The enemy is resisting madly. He struck our positions with artillery of various types 626 times a day, and carried out 4 air raids. In total, 11 combat clashes took place in that direction. 140 invaders were destroyed, 232 were wounded, 4 were captured,” Cherevaty said.
In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a lot of Russian military equipment. The troops arrived on what is known as the “left bank” of the river, occupied by Russia, in small boats under the cover of darkness, video purportedly from the incursion appeared to show.
As many as 50 Ukrainian troops proceeded to attack from the west the settlement of Kozachi Lageri, about two miles south of the banks of the Dnipro, pro-Russian Telegram channels reported. Under the terms of the MOU, the United States pledges to provide $38 billion in military aid ($33 billion in Foreign Military Financing grants plus $5 billion in missile defense appropriations) to Israel.
Zelensky and numerous Ukrainian officials have suggested that Ukraine could replicate Israel’s security model with a capable army, a dynamic industrial base, a skillful intelligence apparatus, a strategic culture centered on self-defense, and a multifaceted relationship with the United States.26 A multilateral security arrangement for Ukraine based on this model is not a far-fetched idea, although there are important differences, not least of which is the fact that Israel, unlike Ukraine, has nuclear weapons and does not face aggression by a nuclear superpower.
I spent a while looking at video #2 in comment #6 about huge explosion in Moscow optics factory. For some reason you have to wait 8+ minutes for the video to begin, so I looked at the comments underneath. Below I am showing the most interesting comments I read there. When the video finally began, it did show what appears to be a large area destroyed. It was explained that this was the only? Russian factory making the optical equipment for tanks, and artillery mechanisms, so may be impossible to rebuild/replace. Sounds pretty significant to non-military me, more informed comments anyone?? There were a number of other actions reported besides the factory, over an hour of them.
COMMENT what help we should give UKRAINE
“Ukraine should be supplied with F-16s and long-range precision munitions, such as the ATACMS, and the orc military bases inside of Russia should be fair game. I suspect the hesitance of Ukraine’s partners in this regard is not directly due to concern about provoking the orcs (we all know the Kremlin will bark loudly - like a tiny yappy dog - and do nothing more, for the orcs know they can not win a direct war against NATO). Instead, it is due to a concern by western politicians that their own populations might not fully support the military aid to Ukraine. However, such concern is ill-founded. For example, support for military aid to Ukraine in the US is over 80% and still rising. This is because Americans can see that not only is helping Ukraine the ethical thing to do, it is the practical thing as well. The US has spent only about 5% of its military budget so far to aid Ukraine. However, approximately half of the Russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure!
On top of this, when Russia is defeated in this war, their ideology of Fascist Imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a more peaceful, stable place for many generations - preventing a new arms race in the region. Thus, billions spent today saves trillions tomorrow. The vast majority of Americans understand this. Americans also want to see Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. So, I do think Americans as a whole would support giving Ukraine:
1) F-16s & F-15s for air-supremacy.
2) Grippen Fighters as well - they are less sensitive to rough runways, and easier to maintain - making them useful for some areas.
3) ATACMS, and other long range munitions, and a carte-blanche to destroy orc military targets inside Russian territory.
4) More Patriot & C-RAMs air defenses (Patriot missiles are expensive, so a tiered air defense is best - let C-RAMs take care of the cheap drones).
5) M1 Abrams MBT, and M109A6 Paladins (SPG), and A-10 Warhogs (for ruZZian orc removal in detail)
To facilitate a faster Ukrainian victory, and with fewer Ukrainian losses, the democracies of the world need to send military support to Ukraine. Please write your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are a US citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in quantity, and soon. The sooner we give Ukraine the weapons it needs to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be over, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also google for ones’ elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One can simply write and submit a letter electronically to make your desire known.
