I’ve had something similar happen, computer just wouldn’t boot up to Windows. So I downloaded a portable Linux kernel that would run on a bootable thumb drive so I could boot the computer without using the hard drive. I was still able to see the files and get them moved off. This is actually not that hard but probably if you’re not comfortable just take it to a tech. I’m just saying that until you hear otherwise, there’s still hope.
I used Knoppix and Ubuntu Live modes to get data some.
Even made a little extra money from it.

Yep, absolutely. Every windows owner should have one even if just for this reason alone. :)
