In my 45 year, adult history in this state, I have observed the following:
- 50 mph winds are not uncommon along the coastal regions.
- tropical storms, or so they were labeled at the time, have arrived from the Baja area at least 3 times.
- five inches of rain to parts of the Los Angeles basin and 12 inches of rain to surrounding mountain areas is not unheard of.

Already this hurricane has been downgraded from a 4 to a 1, and expected to be a tropical storm when it hits the Southern border.

This alarmist agitiprop is now a common feature of the MSN.

It's sad that we can't just simply follow what is actually a pretty cool weather event without leftists spewing talking points as if they are undisputed fact. The media simply won't allow that.

Yeah, 50mph winds. OOOh! So terrifying.

Take a drive with your dog and open the window. 50mph in his face is a thrill to him.

It is weather. Nothing more. And, if LA gets a lot of rain all of the residents will suddenly realize what it means when emergency services constructed the highways to take away floodwater.

It’s almost routine on the Eastern seaboard. We do have our moments though.

Notwithstanding any localized damage, this storm is good news. After the wet winter, I’m not aware of any major fires here in CA this year. It’s too early to say this closes the door on the fire season this year… there’s still plenty of time for things to heat up and the Santa Ana winds to kick in, but it helps a lot. A nice drink for what passes for forests in SoCal, and the real forests in the Sierra. Top off reservoirs and a nice bump for Lakes Mead and Powell. Break the extended heat wave. But none of the good news can be mentioned. Gets in the way of the fear porn

And of course the biggest boost: it’ll spoil a day or two of Biden’s Tahoe vacation… they’ll have to stay inside and eat ice cream
