In the Canadian Powerlifting Union's championships last week, Anne Andres, a male who "identifies as a female," lifted 1317 pounds -- a new woman's world record by more than 440 pounds.
How much of an advantage did Andres have as a male over these real women who have dedicated their lives to powerlifting? I will use his own words from an IG post:
"[I] didn't touch a barbell in my entire life until seven years ago. In theory, I will be representing Canada at IPF Masters Worlds in October 2024. Unless I get hurt, I will win by a good margin."
There are no secrets here. Everyone knows, even the competitors. He's got such a biological advantage that he can just decide to pick up weights at middle age and absolutely demolish the women's world record at age 40.
Sad, man. Really sad. The poor women.
