The cop was stupid for standing in front of the suspect’s car.
No matter. He was struck by the car. I’m no fan of the police. But this looks like a good shoot, a shoot in self-defense.

However, one thing bothers me. From the article: “Young is seen turning her steering wheel and driving off.”

So where was the cop when he shot at the car, in front of it or off to the side?
That would make a big difference. I watched the video. Unless I’m missing something, I can’t tell.

She was trying to get away from the cop
Not run him down
Watch the video
He could have moved aside and gotten her license number

’L’ing up on a suspect is procedure in many instances. One cop at the door, one 90 degrees away. Both are in good position to shoot if necessary and a perp has to divide his attention in different directions.

Both cops had body cams. The one cop positioned himself in front of the car specifically to keep her from driving off with the other cops arm still in the window.

All she needed to do to stay alive was NOT try to run someone over.
