Simmons said he has had no contact with Russell since learning the abduction was fake and he doubts he will ever know why she did it.
“I’m confused, like what happened? What made you do this? I don’t understand,” Simmons said on the video, which is part of a podcast he and a friend have launched.
“If you really wanted to tell me the truth, you could have told me. You could have told me before all this happened, before the police conference came out,” Simmons said.
The two went to New York a week or so before she disappeared, Simmons said. “We were good, we were having fun.”
Simmons said he was doing homework the night of July 13 when Russell’s family called.
“Her family called me and said they seen her car on the highway but they can’t find no trace of her,” he said.
