The season is two weeks old and two teams in the top five of the preseason AP Top 25 already have a loss.
No. 5 LSU lost to No. 8 Florida State in Week 1 and preseason No. 4 Alabama lost 34-24 to preseason No. 11 Texas on Saturday night. Both games could prove pivotal when the College Football Playoff rankings are released at the end of the season.
With Week 3's non-conference slate looking pretty bleak before conference play really gets going in Week 4, we figured now was a good time to rank the best non-conference victories through the first two weeks of the 2023 season. Here are our 10 biggest non-conference wins so far.

If SMU boosters can buy an invite into the ACC, I am sure TAMU boosters can raise the money for a Jimbo buyout. One would think that supposedly greatest recruiting class in college football history would start to show results on the field.
The King is dead, long live the King. Alabama is not an elite team with a QB who can only do two things: scramble and throw the bomb.
I personally think, the college football story of the year, so far would be the Uninversity of Colorado (2-0), if Deion Sanders had not made it all about race.
Alabama has been dead for awhile. They lost twice the last two years I’m still amazed at how much people hate them. But I guess I used to despise Nebraska the same way.
Nick Saban is where Bear Bryant was and that got pretty ugly.
Georgia could and may win ten titles in a row and no one says a negative thing about them.
Georgia next.
The Michigan Wolverines are closing in on 1,000 wins (most wins in history) and will be the first to do so, possibly even this season. The attendance record in the Big House will never be broken in our lifetime.
What the NCAA has done to the major conferences starting next year is despicable and will never be forgiven, somehow this reminds me of today’s feds. Look for all the grift coming from rich donors to school admins, coaches, players, the whole cabal.
I know it's been 3 seasons since Bama last won the national championship and they just now lost a game this season. I remind you that this looks a lot like 2015 when they lost the 3rd game of the season to Ole Miss. Everybody was saying Bama was dead --- before they won all the other games including the natty. Then another in 2017. Then another in 2020.
TTU chokes two weeks in a row.
Sanders-ya gotta like him. What if he was a republican? Can you imagine him supporting a welfare mentality that he ends up having to correct? It’s my way or the highway sounds very Trumpian but then his comments about race are Obama-like. Timely and not too often. It works.
No wonder it's called amateur sports.
Georgia will not three-peat.
But watch it be FSU and further my pain even more.
Congratulations to the USC Trojans for routing the Stanford Indians 56-10. It was 49-3 at the half.
I wonder how many even remember that Stanford used to be the Indians? Probably the first PC name change.
App State got robbed in the last second of play.
Go Ducks!
Bama can lose three more and still get put in.
Michigan sucks.
Yeah but it was UNC so pretty normal
The Bama QB looked Terrible. Could not read the field and telegraphed his passes. That will be an issue all season.
The NCAA is halfway there but needs to keep tweaking the rules. We need longer halftimes so that teams can go to the portal and pick up help to fix first half problems. This would be a great synergy with the fantasy football leagues as well as an incredible wildcard for the betting windows. Something also has to be done about the NIL disparities or we’ll slide into a situation in which only ten teams are competitive. Some kind of crowd funded, bitcoin driven futures market might be the solution. The NCAA also needs to get serious about the 50 week season, with one week academic breaks in the fall and spring so players can attend their classes.
Was at the game yesterday in Tuscaloosa.
Perfect Day and weather. Full house. Great to see two “Brands” go head to head and I believe the better team won. QB struggles for Alabama no doubt.
Nice stadium they have. Like the vertical second tier seating. Your much closer than say Michigan Stadium.
