I remember they used to call them flying saucers. But haven’t heard that terminology used in many years.
Perhaps because not all were saucer shaped, so “UFO” was more inclusive language???

..and can we get back to calling them UFOs?Amen. The two I saw were flying and appeared to be solid metallic disc shaped objects performing in ways that aircraft and balloons do not. absolutely.
No idea what they were other than that.
