The mother of a teenager who is accused of intentionally ramming into and killing a retired police chief with his car while his friend laughed has broken her silence.
Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, have been charged after being accused of intentionally striking Andreas Probst, 64, while he was riding his bicycle down an empty highway in the northwest of the city at around 6am on August 14.
Ayala's mother has said that she 'doesn't know,' if her son - who was 17 at the time - can be forgiven for his alleged crimes, after police announced the juveniles will be charged as adults.
She told 8News Now: 'I don't know why he did this. I don't know if God can forgive this.'
Both Ayala and Keys will be in Las Vegas Justice Court today.
Ayala, the accused driver of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra, has a lengthy record in the juvenile system. He was arrested the same day as the hit - and has been hit with 18 different charges, from murder to conspiracy to burglary.
Meanwhile Keys, who was detained this week following a police appeal for information, is believed to be the passenger who goaded the attack and filmed a sick video.
It took cops five weeks to arrest him. It's believed he was wearing a face mask at the time of the sick collision.
His mother told the news outlet via text: 'My son's side of the story will be told, 'the truth,' not the inaccuracies the media will try to portray.'
The duo were transferred to the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday and they will face charges of murder with a deadly weapon, battery and attempted murder in Las Vegas Justice Court.

‘My son’s side of the story will be told, ‘the truth,’
Let me guess, this story is “my son is a good boy.”
He’s an aspiring rapper
He dindo nuffin.
I just learned something from this article that I had not heard before.
I knew they had been on a crime spree that day and had several hit and runs but they had also hit another cyclist but that 72 year old survived. They stole several cars but don’t know how many, possibly as many as 4.
Don’t tell me this mother did not know these were bad kids. What they just woke up one day and did all this? I’m not buying it.
Ultimately, they will walk...
He was such a good boy until he started running over people
Bla bla bla
Save it
They did the crime, they recorded it, and posted it to the internet. Their cruelty and total disdain for human life is exceeded only by their stupidity. Try, convict, and if not executed, life without parole.
Known throughout his community (he is a drug dealer), an aspiring rapper, and I think he was starting at UNLV in the fall. The usual BS....
They killed a former cop. They will never see the light of day. I’m betting they have an “accident” on the way to prison.
And that is just what they caught him for too!!!
Could be a factor. This is more social media goodness brought into our lives. I didn’t see what platform they were streaming on.
A retired police chief is typically in a position to reveal sensitive information about government officials.
I agree!
I certainly hope so...
I don’t see how they can charge the passenger.
It is claimed that the passenger, who was doing the filming, was egging the driver on to hit the man on the bike.
If two thugs can go into a store and the store keeper kills one of them in self defense, the other thug can get charged with murder. It would seem that this murder is even more straight forward.
Even without a verbal command by the passenger, it would seem that just the act of filming the intentional hitting of other cars, and then the biker, would be construed as some type of aid.
“Well, if it weren’t for the camera, my little aspiring rapper wouldn’t have done any of it!”
“ I don’t see how they can charge the passenger.”
It’s called the Felony Murder rule. Every State has some version of it.

Jesus Ayala & Jzamir Keys
Looks like the perps were busy little bees...
