A Missouri high school has faced a backlash after crowning a transgender girl homecoming queen - beating four biologically female students.
Tristan Young, 17, was voted the homecoming queen at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri, following in the steps of Landon Patterson, a transgender who took the title in 2015.
The school has been under fire after it shared photos of Young's crowning and celebrated her honor on social media.
'Another reminder to all girls that men make the best women,' Riley Gaines wrote on X, criticizing Young's crowning.
Gaines is a former college swimmer against transgender women competing with biologically women on sports.
'I wonder if a female will win homecoming king or if it's understood that both of these spots are reserved for males,' she added.
The advocate also retweeted a comment reading: 'I'm sure it would be just fine if a girl were crowned homecoming KING.'
Reactions under the school's social media post were divided, with some came to Young's defense and congratulated her.
'We are so proud of you, Tristan! You are a stunning young woman who is going to change the world, and you deserved this win!!' one wrote.
'And yes, if grown women really find it necessary to spread hate and bully kids like this, then maybe boys DO make the best girls,' another posted on Facebook.

After that post I did about the kids walking out of school in Philly over this trans stuff it’s well known the majority of kids today are not down with this and it’s just pushed on them.
With that said, I think the kids are just punking him. This is sort of a “Carrie White” thing. I’m sure they are laughing at him behind his back saying “Look at the faggot up there”. They don’t even have to dump blood on him like they did to Carrie White, he’s done it to himself.
Our freshman spirit organzation president in college was a really nerdy, "Pedro" type guy who no one took seriously, but we voted for him because the other announced candidates were so full of themselves. Not because we were enamored with him.
Between the sympathy votes, virtue signal votes, and the prankster votes, how could he NOT win?
How does this happen?
The students that vote for this are just giving the finger to authority and norms. Most really do not care about the transgendered movement but do enjoy making chaos. That is what youth have done since history was written. When that same set of youths hit the Vietnam rice paddies they came back different. Some were better for it, and some worse but none came back the same. Some came back with a flag over their coffin.
Reality is an ugly bitch.
I was hoping for a Carrie moment at the crowning.
Sad. This is a person (and all men and women/kids are) are people who need genuine mental help to be ok in their own bodies, not affirmation of their mental illness.
Some day the people who encouraged this will be regarded as horrible people, on the same level as any other enabler of someone with a serious problem.
