More proof the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed via a Convention of States.
We will in the future be as awed by the feculent US Senate as we are of the ancient Roman SPQR and how it self destructed, catalyzing an implosion of the entire society it pretended to represent.
A cesspit-body so rotten that a single turd like Menendez doesn't even stand out or impress.
His corruption, like the corruption of the Senate as a body, is so deep and thoroughgoing, that we can't imagine why they picked out THIS little pile of gold bars, THIS little gift car, THESE wads of Benjamins in his smelly suit jacket.
Is this whole Menendez thing just a tactical feint?
Compared with the wholesale corruption of the Senate, is this a red herring?
The ukraine corruption must be really bad, widespread, and bipartisan.
Did he not toe the line with regard to Ukraine, or anything, for that matter?
As far as I can tell he has been an exemplary Rat... soulless, atheistic, pandering, irresponsible with funding, cheating, stealing, bribe-taking, enabling corruption of all kinds... a real NJ demo prince. Has been since forever.
He's overdue for some Rat award. The Nobel Prize for murine behavior.
The King Rat Award for The King of the Rats.
Democrats would never do that. Keep dreaming.
He doesn't. Which is why they are able to throw him under the bus. Had he been neck deep in the ukraine corruption he would have been untouchable. As it is, he's merely a distraction from ukraine corruption. An opportunity for the crooks to point and say, "See? We're keeping a clean house. We're not like that baddie Menendez."
https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4184580/posts From the above article: "If these allegations against Menendez are proven, then he violated Washington’s Goldilocks rule. It would mean that Menendez pursued gifts with a reckless abandon, endangering others whose corruption was more circumspect."

Blago was dumb enough to speak in terms that sounded too obvious. Wondering out loud about the cost of a Senate seat where someone else could hear him and then having questions about how someone was selected to finish Obama’s Senate term was like holding up a big sign that says “I am a crook!”. Most people at that level are smart enough to be a little more discreet about their actions.
“It’s funny that Pennsylvania can make a “deal” for a Senate seat over Fetterman, and Missouri can make a “deal” for a Senate seat over Carnahan, but when Illinois made a “deal” for the Obama seat all heck broke loose and Blago (and the Jacksons) had to take the fall to protect Obama from a scandal.
