Article I, section 5 of the United States Constitution provides that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member."
Since 1789 the Senate has expelled only 15 members. Of that number, 14 were expelled during the Civil War for supporting the Confederacy. In several other cases, the Senate considered expulsion but either dropped those proceedings or failed to act before the member left office. In those cases, corruption was the primary cause of complaint.
....
15. The Committee on Ethics recommended that Williams be expelled because of his "ethically repugnant" conduct in the Abscam scandal, for which he was convicted of conspiracy, bribery, and conflict of interest. Prior to a Senate vote on his expulsion, Williams resigned on March 11, 1982.
16. The Committee on Ethics recommended that Packwood be expelled for abuse of his power as a senator "by repeatedly committing social misconduct" and "by engaging in a deliberate ... plan to enhance his personal financial position" by seeking favors "from persons who had a particular interest in legislation of issues" that he could influence, as well as for seeking "to obstruct and impede the committee's inquires by withholding, alerting, and destroying relevant evidence." On September 7, 1995, the day after the committee issued its recommendation, Packwood announced his resignation without specifying an effective date. On September 8, he indicated that he would resign effective October 1, 1995.
Bob Menendez is in big trouble with even his own party calling for him to go and his refusal to do so...
Menendez is a disgrace. He should be expelled.
Menendez (for some reason) ceased to be useful to the Derp State and now he’s being thrown away. He’s not dirtier than any of the other Demonrats in particular. At least the girls he molests are closer to being teenagers than the ones that Plugs the Pedo diddles.
If he really wanted to go out with a bang, he’d name names. But they’ll likely threaten him or the family with being “un-alived” if he does that.
Fetterman should be expelled first. People almost expect their elected officials to be crooked, but to have one dress like a bum is accelerating towards the IDIOCRACY era too quickly.
I don’t know the law for replacing those two Senators, but if they would be replaced with Democrats, then expelling them is a no-brainer.
The deal was (after fixing the election for him over Oz) when Fetterdouche kicked off from his final stroke, his equally creepy Stalinist wife would get the seat.
Does she dress like Zelensky?
She’d probably pulling the strings now.
What’s the difference?
If this guy was a normal citizen....there’d be a dozen charges, and some plea deal....do three years of prison and pay a hefty fine. Just treat him that way, and forget all this suspend-crap...let him enter some prison.

I wish Blago had let loose with telling about all the crooked dealings, but he knew if he talked, he’d get whacked.
If you went through my clothes, you’d be lucky to find $4.80. Bring your own zeros.
I suspect he knows that would come back upon his family. Communists do not play around.
I found $5.50 when I did the laundry
Felt like I’d hit the lottery
Maybe I should buy a scratch with it
“forget all this suspend-crap...let him enter some prison.”
Exactly right. These crimes by Democrats (95% of the time) would have any one of us peons in Greybar Hotel in a heartbeat. Why do THEY have the luxury of simple expulsion, censuring, or impeachment? Skip that theatrical nonsense and go straight to prison.
Yes, with a 2/3 vote
Old Senator Bob is the epitome of the Democratic Party....all crooks in one form or another.
IIRC banging is part of his problem. /s
Old Bob has gone too far. It’s time for him to step down, imo
I think the Democrats will move quickly to get him out of there. The longer this story stays in the news, the more people will start noticing the similarities between his criminal behavior and Joe Biden’s.
The problem the Democrats have is that Menendez’s corruption looks very similar to the Biden family crime scheme - selling influence to foreign entities at the expense of undermining US policy. The only difference is that the cash and gold was lying around Bob’s house, whereas Joe has had his bribe money spread around to family members through offshore shell companies, so he thinks that nothing can be proven.
The Dems need this problem to go away quickly and quietly. The least worst option is to have Menendez resign. A bipartisan effort to remove him would get a lot of press coverage (“Republicans Pounce!”) and draw attention to the issue of corruption among long-serving Democrat senators in an election year.
