Gambon had enough range as an actor to distinguish himself as the solitary inventor John Harrison in Longitude, a crime boss in Layer Cake who got the better of Daniel Craig, and Dumbledore, the revered and wise master of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Gambon was also a skilled and fast driver, enough so for two appearances on Top Gear.
