I completely agree. The whole "cloud" and kubernetes concept requires much more hardware. It is harder to design, implement, deploy and maintain. I miss the simplicity of a simple UNIX box with a good C++ compiler. Easy design, implementation and deployment. Docker has merit in deploying a working implementation with all the dependent library and parameters configured instead of expecting the end user to properly configure the execution platform. Running kubernetes clusters is another order of magnitude more complex and stupidly wasteful of resources.
