Difference between Butkus and Lambert in stance was Lambert, for 4/5ths of his playing career, always did a left/right speed step, kind of a thing to keep him loaded, so to speak.

Butkus had an amazing sense of humor. These guys were special. Nitchke once got mad at a reporter who referred to him as “a mad dog linebacker.” People said he could have been a school principal.

Ditka won a Super Bowl as a tight end for Dallas in 1971-72. Nobody remembers him playing for the Eagles.
I’m partial to Wilbur Marshall for obvious reasons.
