My doctor just gave me my THIRD pneumonia shot (at 80).
I’ve had monthly leg cramps from statins. As soon as detected, straighten the leg flat!
It’s always one leg—usually the left leg.
I have tried every statin out there, it seems like, and had to stop from the leg pain and weakness. My doctor said that it means I’m allergic to them. The Nexletol isn’t a statin, but it does come with side effects. I feel weaker all over with little energy. One of the scarier side effects is tendon rupture. It can also cause Gout. It took my total cholesterol from 305 to almost normal in three months though so I put up with it. I do have some foot cramps but so far no leg cramps. It’s made especially for people with genetically high LDL that can’t take statins or statins don’t work. She said it’s not as dangerous as statins. Expensive though. If I didn’t qualify for the $25 copay card, I wouldn’t be taking it.
Statins had Scandinavian clinical studies back in the 1970s.
Enough in the mid-1970s to convince my university-teaching doctor to prescribe Mevator to reduce cholesterol. A few others (and approving doctors) have come along, so now I’m on Atorvastatin (80mg). At 80.
I tell a lot of stories about one of my grandmothers who lived to be 106. She did hit hard core senility at 98—but I remember talking to her when she was 96 and she was complaining because none of the men in the assisted living facility were very good dancers.
“none of the men in the assisted living facility were very good dancers.”
LOL! Dancing with a walker in tow could be a problem.
I am the same. I never feel good if I eat them either… plus it is so hard to stop when I start. Carbs make you crave carbs I think. I can eat certain carbs that don’t do that to me, like blueberries.
My weakness is chocolate. I crave it. I can snack on the really bitter dark chocolate OK but if I eat a brownie...it’s good but it makes me feel really bad. Carbs are an addiction.
Nice work!
I fractured my knee several months ago, which prevented treadmill or most other kinds of serious walking. Before that, I was doing a 14-minute mile on the gym treadmill five days a week. No health problems then.
However we do it, gotta keep moving.
