Risky Business should be much higher.

Nah. I think the best movies of Tom Cruise are “Edge Of Tomorrow”, “War Of The Worlds”, the “Mission Impossible” series and “The Last Samurai”.

I have one disagreement- Tom Cruze as Reacher just falls short. To see a really great Reacher look at Amazon’s version. Alan Richson nails it.

Tom Cruise got better as he got older (except for Risky Business).

“Eyes Wide Shut” deserved last place.

He’s got a few great ones way too low on the list.
But I was very disappointed with the story in Dead Reckoning.

All his movies are worth the price of a ticket. Collateral, Jack Reacher, etc. MI III is still my favorite. His acting in Jerry Maguire is excellent.

Stanley Kubrick was an excellent filmmaker.

He died shortly after EYS was completed. Probably of shame.

“The Firm” was mediocre. I regret having seen “Risky Business” in my youth. “Taps” was pretty good. I haven’t seen the rest.

I wanted to like ‘Top Gun Maverick’ so I went to see it on the big screen. Something I rarely do anymore. I thought it was just an average pic that I’ve seen the same type of plot played out in many many other movies.

Sadly, I was disappointed in it. I’m surprised to see this very average, even boring and very predictable flick the #1 on the list. I mean, for gosh sake’s even the flight scenes were just closeups of the helmeted faces mostly.

Great actor. Tom Cruise was my generation’s movie star.

When we were in high school, he played a teenage cadet in “Taps.” Then he played Joel in “Risky Business.”

In our 20’s, as we tried to get ahead in the workforce, he was playing those roles in the movies.

As we fell in love, started families, divorced... he was playing it out in his movie roles.

I don’t know where it ends up... I guess one day, when we grow older, he’ll play an old man.

I didn’t see all his films, but I loved the ones I saw.

My favorites were his roles in “Rain Man,” “Jerry Maguire,” and “War of the Worlds.”

My top 4 are (in no particular order):

The Color of Money (I think this was his best performance)

Top Gun

Top Gun: Maverick (I thought the finale was too not believable, buy hey, it was still a good movie)

Rain Man

If I were making a top 5 list, I’m not sure what I’d put at number 5. He’s horribly miscast in the Reacher movies. None of the Mission Impossible movies stick in my memory. I didn’t like A Few Good Men. There are a lot of his movies I didn’t like, some of those were some of his better performances.

16. “Jack Reacher”: You can never go wrong with a Cruise thriller, and this one is no exception

As a fan of Lee Child's series, I hate that Cruise was allowed to take this role.

Amazon Prime has an excellent series of Reacher, with an actor taller than 5'10". (Jack is 6'5" and 230-250 lbs)

The 8 episodes on Prime are 1 book. Can't wait for season 2!

Agree with your post #12. TG: Maverick was okay, but the original was so much better. Original idea, original filming methods, better music and original story line. Maverick leaned on the original too much and the ending was hurried and predictable, almost a last minute slap together get ‘er done ending. TG: Maverick would have been better if there was no TG original.

Rebecca De Mornay at her peak is the only reason to watch Risky Business.
