“Tom Cruise as Reacher falls short”………
I see what you did there……
RLTW
“Tom Cruze as Reacher just falls short” Exactly Reacher is 6’5” in the books.
Cruise doesn’t work for the character. Amazon and Alan Richson made an excellent series.
Blues music, humor and a bit of the old ultraviolence.
If you want to see Tom Cruise playing the old fashioned Movie Star check him out on the British show Grand Tour or whatever they were calling it at that point. (Political Incorrectness on the part of the hosts caused a different production/new name kerfuffle somewhere along the line) Guests on the show have to run an econobox around a race course for best time. The show had a long running gag about “Tom Cruise” coming on only to be replaced by a lesser name later. Well one day Cruise shows up. He’s as handsome as he is humble. Witty and intelligent too. When his time in the econobox comes he puts on the helmet and handsomely and humbly blows every single guest who has tried it out of the water. It was exactly like watching some old Clark Gable video.
“Edge Of Tomorrow”
Yep.
Big TC fan here, esp the 2 Top Gun movies.
Not a Stanley Kubrick fan. I think he’s an overrated director. I’m a fan of “Spartacus” but the word is Kirk Douglas had a big hand in directing it. Could be why I like it.
I was completely bored with TG-M by the finale. I remember wishing it was over and there was still a needless half hour or so left. I agree with your take, both the 1st ‘TG’ and ‘Rain man’ should have been higher on the list than TG Mav, IMO.
I wonder if that was also the case with "Paths of Glory".
Valkyrie would have been much better if they had put Thomas Kretschmann as Von Stauffenberg, instead. But I guess he didn’t have the star power.
"Movies are communist satanic propaganda! I only watch Gunsmoke reruns on the ole' B&W!"
Just kidding. I still have never sat down and watched a single Mission Impossible film so while I loved the latest Top Gun, my vote is gonna have to go to either Risky Business or Tropic Thunder for the top.
My most hated Kubrick film?
2001. A Space Odyssey.
It was a box office bomb when released. Only grew in time as a cult classic.
I find it as 2 1/2 hours of boring dialogue
I’ve seen them all and would have to say there were various levels of remarkabliity but everyone was entertaining for me. Tom Cruise may have some quirks in his personal life but he’s a mighty fine performer
Ken Watanabi stole “the Last Samurai” from Cruise. It’s really a Watanabi movie with Cruise as a co-star
Totally agree.
Was this the episode with Tom Cruise?

Cruise has always had that special something. I don’t know much about his ideas - he’s faced some criticism. But, as a movie star, he just has it - whatever “it” is, he’s got it.
He never mentioned Tropic Thunder.
Cruise has spoken some of the most iconic movie lines, such as in "Risky Business" ("Sometimes you just gotta say...") and "Top Gun" ("I feel the need for speed"), and he's been in some of the most iconic scenes, such as the casino in "Rain Man."
But, the fight for the car scene in "War of the Worlds" looks like what we saw happen in 2020.
Yeah that’s it. I’d forgotten he’d two-wheeled it, another Movie Star touch.
Ping!
