In 1948, Israel became a nation... it put forth its leaves.

I've wondered if 1967 is a better date, since that is when Israel regained Jerusalem.

I've seen that suggested as well, along with the idea that Israel needs to occupy all the lands to the borders that existed during the reign of King David.

They do not yet, and it seems unlikely that they ever will, at this point, but who knows? Stranger things have happened with regard to Israel.

It’s certainly a valid possibility but there are others as well.... that and the fact that there are several potential definitions of what a ‘generation’ might be all are part of why the ‘day and the hour’ can’t and won’t be known. Regardless, in the grand scheme of things, if Scripture provided enough hints as to what the window looks like and even if it was as big as 100 years, that is still actually quite tight when placed against the backdrop of thousands of years of history.
