Just watch the movie KHARTOUM(1966). There have been quite a few Mahdis that have not panned out.
This is not the Mahdi flag. Those were rumors. They say this black flag was for mourning of those who died in Gaza. This flag has been flown before. This is according to many websites who have fact checked the internet rumors about the flag.
