I was a charter flight attendant and can confirm that the basketball/football players/staff don’t want old, fat, ugly and mean flight attendants. FFS, give them what they want.

It is definitely a customer-driven market. This was a charter flight, give the people paying a lot of money for the flight what they want

I was actually on a Delta flight recently where two of the four FA’s were young, white, thin, and female. I’ve literally never seen that happen on a US airline. I guess COVID drove away a lot of the 70’s-80’s union hires who had been hanging on forever, and Delta was finally forced to bring on some new ones. :)

The airlines obviously don’t hire anyone by ability anymore - trans, LGBTQ, morbidly obese and minority are on the front lines now.
