“ There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. That’s the system.”
Ayn Rand. Atlas Shrugged.

Good quote and quite truthful.
Anyone with half a brain knows that if Trump were not running none of this would be happening.
Every time he goes up in the polls they file another made up charge. Talk about indicting a ham sandwich, it is about that meaningful. They can claim anything.
There is no longer any such thing as uniform and equal justice. I reject the whole concept now. I will sit for jury duty to play along out of a personal sense of duty and hope to contribute to justice if called, but I do not respect the system. It is not much more than a charade. There may be small spots of something that once was respectable but not enough to matter. Even in our small conservative area plea bargains and time served are common as is dropping charges in exchange for guilty pleas on smaller ones. Of course there are also the favored few around here who should have been hung a long time ago who have never been charged.
Probably one of the top five quotes from Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand knew exactly what she was talking about given her life experience.
Profound.
I had a house appraised for 800k in the process of getting a divorce. The appraisal was part of a court approved settlement. Less than 2 years later, the same house was appraised for property tax purposes by a state appointed appraiser for 1.6 million. I’m fighting them of course.
