My 2004 Tundra 4 door has 209,000 and runs well. Going for 300,000 will be a cinch.

Te old Avalons (and maybe recents as well) were the best used cars to buy. People get 300,000 miles in those things

At one point in the early years of this century, the difference between the Lexus and the Avalon was V-8 and a V-6, badging and trim. Compare the 2002 Toyota Avalon and the 2003 Lexus LS.

The issue with domestic makes is the Big 3 have to pay the UAW premium. That’s why they can’t make a sedan to compete with Honda and Toyota. So they water down parts specs way below their Japanese counterparts, which leads to reliability problems. Domestic makes are cheaper to own with one qualification - you do all of your own servicing. If you go to a mechanic, you’re better off with Honda or Toyota.

Nissan used to be great, but went through the same watering down of parts quality that Detroit did, after Peugeot’s CEO took charge. Now that he’s been booted, that reliability should theoretically be on the mend. Except Nissan still needs to make money, and it’s anybody’s guess how they jack up parts costs and stay profitable.

I’ve always told people that the Avalon/Lexus ES was just an upgraded Camry.

I agree. The only reason we did the GM purchase is due to the discount we get as family of an executive. Funny thing he always said. A car is just an ass hauler, hauls your ass from one place to another. You don’t need no Lexus. In fact he only drove in it once when he drove with me to drop the car off when we moved out west from Detroit. He ended up liking the car.

Just looked at the specs.

Not sure why a senior would want one, unless the senior is short.

You can get a crossover SUV for less money, and it’s a roomier car.

1794 TRD here with 80K on it and no problems so far, plus a couple of FJs. The TRDs have proven to be the least 'tarded vehicles I ever owned.

On the other hand, the Jeep JK that I had 7 years ago...what a POS! Everything you'd expect from a Chrysler (now Fiat) product and a lot worse.

Thanks.

A neighbor has had an Avalon for a long while.

It’s a nice ride for hauling a few people.
