Lead singer on first MB hit “Go Now”. 70s still seems young now.

Saw him perform solo in a tiny club in Northern VA a few years back. Tickets were about $30 and there were only about fifty people there. He did a lot of talking during the show. He wasn’t very complimentary of Paul. He said Paul was miserly and a micromanager. He also said Paul’s Japan drug bust and the resultant tour cancellation basically ruined him financially.

He left the Moodies before they really hit it big. Justin Hayward was his replacement.

Makes me think back to an article talking about how our old Rock and Rollers would start passing. It came out around the time Ric Ocasek died, IIRC. Sad to see them go. RIP.

Yeah, the more I learn about Paul, the more I realize, he’s not a good person.

Justin Hayward and John Lodge were the diving force behind the Blues.

Hayward is a fantastic guitar player. The Story In Your Eyes, is probably one of my favorite guitar solos. But since the Moodies aren’t a “guitar band”, he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

Denny was in the original pop Moody Blues that existed in earlier 60s known for the song “Go Now”.

Moody Blues reformed and reshaped their sound in the late 1960s and went on to become the incredible band it became. Denny Laine didn’t play much of a role in the Moody Blues at least as I know it.

Denny was an historical relic of sorts for the Moody Blues and became really known for his work in Wings.

RIP Denny.

A year and a half ago we saw Denny Laine, Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross and Badfinger at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois. It was the final night of their tour named “It Was 50 Years Ago Today”, a tribute to the Beatles. They played various songs from the Rubber Soul and Revolver albums, plus a couple songs each of their own music.

Denny Laine’s featured songs were “Go Now” and “Band on the Run”.

What a great show from an eclectic group of musicians and song writers.

RIP Denny Laine

No doubt. Definitely a “English” vibe sound about them.
I gotten to know a guy that frequents a bar I spend $$ at that owns the music store across the street on Main in Memphis. I’m thinking of picking up a turntable. My problem is. What is the first album I purchase in 40 years.😉
First world problems. I know.👍
