Call me cynical, but the timing of this prompts me to think it’s some sort of tactic to provide a plausible legal excuse for Hunter to avoid having to submit to the Congressional subpoena. Not sure what the argument will be, but I imagine some variant of the “can’t comment on an ongoing investigation” dodge used by the DOJ. Maybe it’ll just make pleading the 5th look reasonable.
Meanwhile, actual prosecution of the charges will be slow-walked and bungled in the run-up to the election.
Joe is like a toddler - denying doing something that everyone just witnessed him doing.
