I can almost picture it ... displays of polyester shirts with big collars, Sansabelt slacks, hardware, toys, stinky perfume counter ... ah, the good old days.

I can almost picture it ... displays of polyester shirts with big collars, Sansabelt slacks, hardware, toys, stinky perfume counter ... ah, the good old days.

This sound track would be interrupted over the PA system by the store manager announcing the "blue light" special in some part of the store. The blue light was like an old police light that rotated around powered by a car battery so no one tripped over the power cord. The music would also get interrupted by the manager calling some person to come to the front of the store for a price check, or a missing child. K-mart also had a counter for processing photos, film and a studio for kids pictures. Locally, only Penney's still has a photo studio now. Before everyone went digital, film processing was a big deal. I also remember the little Photomart buildings in the parking lots of strip malls. Those are long gone now too.
