That’s the key right there. I have some old-school Democrat relatives. They are good people, but they live in the past. They still think their party is the party of Truman and JFK. They can’t change me. I can’t change them. So at family gatherings I talk about other things.
Relative: I hope Biden is re-elected in 2024.
Me: Does anyone know anything about the new Ford Maverick? I’m looking for a good small truck.

My grandfather was one of those old times democrats. He hated republicans just because.
30 some years ago my wife and I stopped over to visit. She warned me to not talk about politics.
An hour later as we were leaving she cast me a dirty look. I said “He started it.”
My great uncle, his brother told me that he would do the same thing. He said it helped Grandpa get his heart pumping.
Way to go. Don’t fall into their trap. Be happy and keep stepping forward. I talk about happy things in life, it drives liberals (and some conservatives) crazy.
