The photograph was taken from lunar orbit on December 24, 1968, 16:39:39.3 UTC,[7][8] with a highly modified Hasselblad 500 EL with an electric drive. The camera had a simple sighting ring rather than the standard reflex viewfinder and was loaded with a 70 mm film magazine containing custom Ektachrome film developed by Kodak. Immediately prior, Anders had been photographing the lunar surface with a 250 mm lens; the lens was subsequently used for the Earthrise images.[9]
Anders: Oh my God! Look at that picture over there! There's the Earth coming up. Wow, that's pretty.
Borman: Hey, don't take that, it's not scheduled. (joking)[1]
Anders: (laughs) You got a color film, Jim?
Hand me that roll of color quick, would you...
Lovell: Oh man, that's great!
There were many images taken at that point. The mission audio tape establishes several photographs were taken, on Borman's orders, with the enthusiastic concurrence of Jim Lovell and Anders. Anders took the first color shot, then Lovell who notes the setting (1/250th of a second at f/11), followed by Anders with another very similar shot (AS08-14-2384).

Also of note is the timing of the visits to the moon.
Man was never on the moon at a full moon or new moon.
Radio and TV communications would at times be saturated by noise from the sun if all three objects aligned. So when the sun is close to right angles to the earth and moon, best communication occurs.

Anders: You got a color film, Jim? Hand me a roll of color, quick, would you?
Lovell: Oh man, that's great.
Anders: Hurry.
Lovell: Where is it?
Anders: Quick
Lovell: Down here?
Anders: Just grab me a color. A color exterior. Hurry up. Got one?
Lovell: Yeah, I'm looking for one. C 368.
Anders: Anything. Quick.
Lovell: Here.
Anders: Well, I think we missed it.
Lovell: Hey, I got it right here [in the hatch window].
Anders: Let me get it out this one, it's a lot clearer.
Lovell: Bill, I got it framed, it's very clear right here!
[shutter click]
Lovell: Got it?
Anders: Yep.
Lovell: Take several, take several of 'em! Here, give it to me!
Anders: Wait a minute, just let me get the right setting here now, just calm down.
Lovell: Take --
Anders: Calm down, Lovell!
Lovell: Well, I got it right -- aw, that's a beautiful shot... Two-fifty at f/11.
[shutter click]
Anders: Okay.
Lovell: Now vary-vary the exposure a little bit.
Anders: I did, I took two of 'em here.

And a few more things for the documentation:
C 368
All in the timing, regardless of who believes what on any given day:
368 =
Christmas Eve [ערב חג המולד]
And God said, "Let there be.." [ויּאמר אלהים יהי]
Two of 'em:
Genesis 11 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
The Earth and the Earth [הארץ והארץ] = 598, which is "about midnight" (כחצת הלילה, Exo 11:4)
which is about (~) 600, the value of the final mem [ם].
Which is interesting because there's the division of verses in between the Earth and the Earth, a 2 (letter bet, house), reflecting a roundup to 600:
הארץ [ב] והארץ
Earth 1:
Frame Num 2383
Magazine 14
Camera Hasselblad 500EL 70 mm
Lens Zeiss Sonnar 250 mm f/5.6
Film Type Kodak Ektachrome SO-368 medium speed ASA 64 color reversal
Earth 2:
Frame Num 2384
Magazine 14
Camera Hasselblad 500EL 70 mm
Lens Zeiss Sonnar 250 mm f/5.6
Film Type Kodak Ektachrome SO-368 medium speed ASA 64 color reversal
This looks like pointless minutia, but anyway...
It's a simple fact that there's something between these two earths, being it the letter vav, or the verse division itself, even the *fact* that there exists a theory about something mysterious going on between those two verses (a vast amount of time and a new creation).
The theory exists. That much is a fact, just like the fact that the holiday of Christmas is December 25th. It's printed right on the calendars, homemade pumpkin pie and all that.
And on the same day the Apollo 8 crew read the first 10 verses of Genesis, Anders (who read verses 1-4) took those pictures.
It’s great shot. We forget how important it is.
I own the lens - the Hasselblad 120 S-Planar C,
and use it as the primary on my 500CM.
(when I shoot with that camera.)
IBT “We never went to/landed on the moon” tards.
I gave my son a similar framed and autographed painting that I bought from astronaut Alan Bean (and signed by the other two crew of that moon-landing trip).
Truely awe inspiring.
