Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev was mocked on social media after many of his outlandish predictions for 2023 failed to come true.
In a series of tweets on X, formerly Twitter, Medvedev predicted on December 26, 2022, that the U.K. would rejoin the EU, which would eventually collapse, and France would go to war with Germany again. Civil war in the U.S. was also in the cards, Medvedev said.
The deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia and ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin also said: "Oil price will rise to $150 a barrel," parts of western Ukraine would be occupied by Poland and Hungary, and a Fourth Reich would be created.
The Reich would contain "the territory of Germany and its satellites, i.e., Poland, the Baltic states, Czechia, Slovakia, the Kiev Republic and other outcasts."

He would have done much better had he said “eventually” or “soon”, rather than picking a date.

Medvedev’s been in the bottle again.
“I could care less about some diplomat’s estimate of the time it will take for Europe and the EU to Degenerate into an IslamoNazi Hell hole.”
He’s not a diplomat; he’s the former Russian president and prime minister; and is currently the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, second only to Putin. He’s Putin’s right-hand man. He’s the guy who colluded with Obama to screw the US. There is a video of the “hot mic(rophone)” incident in which Obama infamously whispered to Medvedev to, “Tell Vlad I will have more flexibility after the election.”
Just goes to show how completely out of it the Russians really are.

In a wide-ranging interview, Gen Sir Richard Barrons argued that Ukraine’s military “has got nothing left in the locker right now” after its gruelling summer counter-offensive.
“The initiative in this war is unequivocally transferring to Russia and that is not the situation we expected at the start of this year but it’s an honest appraisal of where we are,” said Gen Barrons.
“That's a combination of the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive to deliver even its minimum objectives,” said Gen Barrons. “Then the major wobble in US politics and now EU politics on financial support to Ukraine. The reason he's much more confident is because he's not losing this war.”
“Putin will be rubbing his hands with glee at the distraction of Gaza particularly with artillery ammunition that was going to go to Ukraine now being fired at Palestinians,” said the veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
