It’s well known that he had a traumatic upbringing with his father’s alcoholism and drug addiction and PTSD from serving in Vietnam. Shia had a gun pointed at him during a flashback.
Shia also had to deal with his substance abuse and dealing with his own post traumatic stress disorder from his childhood.
