Yes, indeed. The black kid who scores a touchdown is a hero. The black kid who gets 100% on an algebra test is a turncoat. This will be very difficult to fix.
A good start would be for black leaders to step up and talk about this. But any black leader who did so would be called, well, a turncoat.
