I find jokes told to strangers can go awry, but that is in my real life. Online is worse, as nuance, tone and demeanor is missed. Sorry this happened to you.
Ah, you’ve met Ann W...
They pop up on my internet homepage. Just seeing a few quips was enough to keep me off the site.
I really liked Nextdoor because I found out local stuff like new store openings and restaurant reviews. One day someone commented about a lot of flights coming in at night at the local Florida airport. I made a smart remark saying it was probably more illegals being dropped off by FJB and I was banned permanently for that comment. They sent me a notice saying NextDoor was a safe place for everyone that my comment was was not in line with their rules.
Evidently Illegals are welcome at NextDoor. The sent me an email a few days later saying I could get back in if I would agree to their terms and conditions. Needless to say I did not agree.
You got this right 👍. In my neck of the woods it’s a HOA battle royal, loose dogs mostly. And a Karen is the mod.
I agree. I was banned from there as well when some idiot started harassing me. They are a bunch of woke idiots. Also, I hired a few folks (lawn people, handyman) that were recommended and they sucked. I hate that site.
Oh, do not get me started about Nextdoor! I am a real estate investor, so I’ve made it a point to establish accounts in at least 3 neighborhoods (which is not easy to do). I’ve learned that the Admins to each little sector are usually lefty females who are the local Real Estate Agents. These accounts are for constructive purposes, but have also been my little side hobby for messing with the garden variety proggy Karens. It’s too easy - and they’re sooooo dumb. 😜😎
When I moved to Texas, these gasbags got a hold of my email address somehow and told me to sign up. So I did. I lasted one visit and said to myself, not interested. They keep sending emails that I have “20 messages.” LOL! Yeah, Okay. Have a nice day. I agree with you. It’s insane. A place for idiots to go and tell you their problems and why they need people to give them free money to “help” them out. I live near the Fort Hood firing range. Artillery, small arms and machine guns going off night and day. The neighborhood wizards love to post “Did anyone hear those gunshot?” (My wife still checks in every now and then for a few laughs.) Those weren’t gunshots. That was an 8 inch howitzer.
I have found the app to a waste of time. People are only using it here in my neck of the woods in Florida to report their lost dogs and cats. As a warning...I once posted a pic of a gator that had attacked a pet, and was immediately labeled a monster. I deleted the app, but still get the notifications for whatever reason.
Oh yeah! I’ve been in ND jail many times for just speaking the truth.
Yikes!
Next-door is infested with liberal maggots… They all suck and unfortunately these are our neighbors! At least we know who to keep an eye on when the sh*t hits the fan…
You’re just upset cause they weren’t impressed with your little weiner.
I am careful what I say on Nextdoor....but I think in my area it’s useful for crime reporting. Neighbors notify everyone about suspicious cars, activity, etc and I’ve noticed that some are shocked at increasing and bold crime and don’t object when some brave person says elections have consequences.
Besides that I sold a chair for $850 on Nextdoor - neither Craig’s list nor offer up worked.
Nextdoor is much better than it used to be. It’s all about porch pirates and suspicious vehicles.
Most of the Karens are gone, at least in my neighborhood.
That's about 90% of my Nextdoor feed. And posts about gunshots from the people who are posting from St. Louis City.
All I ever see are lost dogs and cats.
Nextdoor is like a poison HOA. Avoid.
I haven’t tried this, but I remember the old, defunct Topix pages. If you wanted to know about the bad and the ugly in your neighborhood and in your neighbors, your local Topix page was the place to go.
You are so right! I joined it years ago for the same reason. After a few days I started trying to cancel so I would no longer receive email updates and it it took a couple of months for the cancellation to take effect.
I thought I would be notified of burglaries or scams in the area; wrecks, storm damage/blocked roads, local community issues, lost/found pets, etc.
A word of warning for those that are considering joining. The place is nothing but liberal women reporting every perceived slight they have received, past, present, and those expected in the future. Also they complain of gun fire each hunting season and coordinate calling LEOs each time they hear gunfire. I was so glad when my cancellation was finally complete.
