Watching a film on Stephen Hawking and can there be anything worse inflicted upon us than a degenerative disease?
I pray I never suffer this fate if I do I want my life ended.
I'm talking conditions like: MND, Alzheimer's etc
Truly horrible and makes me wonder how if there is a God how his is allowed to happen.
Maybe some Freepers can answer this questions because I can't...
I'm just thankful to be healthy. It's a Blessing let us not forget.
All diseases are miserable to endure. My wife has degenerative disc just like her mother but it is manageable. I know it’s not the same as those you listed and not nearly as devastating but it can be incredibly difficult to watch someone progressively get worse.
Makes me question things (like faith, etc) when I see people with these conditions
Just awful
Getting old is not for sissies.
My uncle’s kidneys gradually failed him and he was too old for a transplant.
A friend of his was doing the eulogy and started crying saying “I’m sorry you had to suffer buddy!”
It was really sad.
Old Stevey boy probably had a happy ending at Epstiens Island of pleasure.

No kidding. Ageing is the most serious problem, and doctors have no medicines to cure it.

A child and his father might view the same negative event differently. For example, suppose a child loses his favorite toy. To the child that’s a terrible thing, a disaster. To the father, it’s just a bump in a long eternal road.

I can not address the particular subject you are focused on because it is a bit narrow.
I will say that we cause more problems for ourselves and others when we do not have problems. We create problems when there are none to be had and because we are a very creative species what we can come up with is more horrifying then what nature inflicts.
No mention of that in the film ! 🤡

Yes, indeed. The Gospels give us information about the plan. But we can no more understand the entirety of the plan than a small child can understand exactly how a television set works.
So as you noted, it becomes a matter of trust, and faith.
