Nothing is sacred in Hollywood. Everything they own the rights to is just possible fodder for a remake or re-imagining. While Disney is notorious for this, Paramount is taking its swing at the title for “most unwanted reimagining” with a remake of “It’s A Wonderful Life.”
Paramount, along with “Black-ish” director Kenya Barris, plans on remaking the iconic holiday film for modern audiences by remaking the film with POC actors because that worked out so well for “The Wonder Years” reboot.
Barris mentioned this project, along with a new “Wizard of Oz” film set in Inglewood at the Sundance Film Festival. Variety reported on the comments that were made by Barris as he was taking part in the Variety Studio presented by Audible

Just looked at the imdb listing for that... I’ll take your word for it that it was a stinker, but it had a hell of a cast... most notably with Orson Welles as Mr Potter.
On a different note, in the ‘80s, my family attended the same church for a while as Frank Capra. He always struck me as a such a nice, humble old gentleman. I’m sure he’ll be rolling in his grave with respect to however Hollywood plans to disfigure on his classic films.

A remake was done in the 70s with Marlo Thomas and Wayne Rogers. Marlo had the lead role.
Some things should never be touch and IAWL is one of them. I can only imagine what a vomit-inducing mess a Woke remake of IAWL will be. I am not surprised that a remake is forthcoming as Hollywood seems to be out of fresh ideas for everything.

The target audience for this thinks life is generally miserable, so I can’t see this remake succeeding.

What would happen if they remade “Black-ish” with a white cast?
The planned public housing project gets shut down because racist southern republicans cut spending from a Federal Grant, and protests from angry middle-aged white men from the suburbs for (fill in the blank) - that's my guess
We all know it MUST promote all the childish and stupid woke stereotypes and an immediate political agenda.
And the 15% remaining are white women married to black men.
