“All the Milly’s have to do is make it worth the Boomer’s time.”

You are 100% right. There is no for sale sign in the yard but if someone offers me the right price, I’m happy to sell the home I built 20 years ago. Many houses not on the market sell when an interested party directly contracts an owner.

The author of this piece doesn’t understand markets. Almost everything is for sale at any time if the price is high enough. If a millennial see’s a desirable boomer house, approach the owner directly. It may be a better deal can be struck than if the millennial is using an agent.

True that. Six years ago we downsized by choice; done with the 2-story and 1-acre of lawn to mow. We knew the neighborhood we wanted to be in as well as the house we wanted. So, when we had an accepted offer on our house, I knocked on the door of the house we wanted and asked them if they wanted to sell. They did and we purchased without the middleman.

A search found that Ms Schuetz lives in the Wash DC Baltimore area, was a Google “scholar” and did some degree work at UNLV.

Want to see the results of a distorted housing market?

Try Washington DC. If one doesn’t work for the federal government or is a lobbyist, then the entire concept of “affordable housing” does not exist.

So why is Ms Jenny comparing only urban areas on the East Coast with anywhere else?

And why doesn’t she give up her parents home - say to some of those DC ferals that pop up on the news - and lead by example?
