A few years ago I spotted wild boar ribs for sale at a meat store. A few days later I came back and got them for dinner that night. Tasted DELICIOUS! I agree with others, it probably depends on what it’s been eating. A natural gamy taste pretty much describes it. Very venison-y.
If you don't bury them the coyote population swells more than ever. When you kill the hogs the coyotes have no piglets to kill and start on domestic stock. I also found out last summer that the neighbor had 7 dead cows and a bull from winter kill he never bothered to bury. That did not help one bit with the coyote or the hog problems. I told him he had better not let me find out about something like that again or I will be calling the Sheriff. It is a health hazard and against the law. The county will bury them if you ask.
I'll be trying some hog traps next when I get time to build them.
I will not eat them.
I’m guessing repeat shots without having to manipulate anything but the trigger are a comfort when hunting ornery animals like hogs.
But what do I know. Biden wants to punish you for moving up to 20th century technology.
“How does feral hog taste compared to domestic hog?”
Leaner. Less fat. The meat is tougher but if you slow cook it a bit longer than farm pork it’s fine. If it’s used for pulled pork there’s really little difference.
Believe it or not, they like corn soaked in diesel.
Solution: buy some domestic pigs/hogs. Feed the dead feral hogs to your domestics.
Looks like fun.
Yes we can! It’s not legal though and would leave all of the hill unpopulated and desolate. On second thought, maybe we would be better off.
They are so full of worms and parasites that in order to eat them they have to be quarantined for a period of time BEFORE they are butchered. During that time of quarantine they are wormed, detoxed and whatever else they need. Besides, in my entire life I have NEVER heard anyone say how great they taste. I understand most of meat is sold to China. They will eat anything.
No repeat shots on hogs.
The AR platform supports the goodies like the adjustable stock, bipod, scope, light and suppressor better than my bolt action 308. The bolt gun is better for long range shots, daylight.
Texas thanks you for the input. We have discovered however, that coyotes and mountain lions pose an even greater threat to our beloved dogs and cats and so forth.
Never tried them.
What are the rules in OK? Is it anyone anytime like TX?
sounds like Texas is about to have a sale on barbequed pork
Any landowner who complains of feral hogs AND charges a fee is a hypocrite.
CLOSE THE DAMN BORDER!
Put Frank’s red hot on it…
When I hunted in Iowa (10-15 years ago), you were permitted and encouraged to shoot them but I never saw any.
If it’s leathery no amount of hot sauce cures it.
Hammer… tenderizes everything 😁
