As a lead prosecutor in her Georgia state case against Donald Trump, Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis hired Nathan Wade, a married man with whom, despite being given every opportunity to do so, she has not denied having an affair.
He is unqualified, apparently never having handled a major felony case.
She claims to have paid Wade at the same rate she paid the other lead prosecutors. In fact, she paid one of the other prosecutors $100 per hour less than Wade, despite the other prosecutor's incomparably better credentials.
She paid her apparent paramour in excess of $650,000 of taxpayer money, then went on vacations with him, and there is evidence that he paid for some costs of those vacations with the funds received from Willis.
So, how would you describe that sordid situation? Why, as a "little thing."
At least, if you're Michael Steele, the former RNC chairman turned member of the disgraced Lincoln Project.

How about the fact that she appointed her unqualified lover to a post beyond his abilities and paid him with taxpayer money about three times more than he should have paid. There were a lot of Republicans and conservatives taken in for a while by that man. So often we heard: “I like what that man says.”
We were desperate at the time for someone who wasn't white to say something - anything - nice about us. He met the requirement. Barely.

It is, whether he intends to be racist or not. Beyond being easily interpreted as a low-effort 13% joke, the premise is false.
Make no mistake, Steele fooled a lot of people, myself included. I don't think he's shielding Fani because she's black - to her, he's already a turncoat for not 100% supporting Dems. There's nothing for him to gain except for more compensation from the network.
He, like every other establishment sellout, is so focused on trying to get Trump that they're prepared to excuse a little malfeasance so the low-information voters who rely on CNN/MSNBC can excuse it as well.
