gender is a "grammatical term only"
"To talk of persons or creatures of the masculine or feminine gender, meaning of the male or female sex, is either a jocularity (permissible or not according to the context) or a blunder."--Fowler

I would also add gendered electrical connections, but those didn't exist in Fowler's time.

Electrical connectors are not "gendered", i.e., masculine, feminine or neuter, they are "sexed", i.e., male. female, or hermaphroditic.
