Suspension of Support to UNRWA is Collective Punishment: Russia

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the suspension of support by several countries to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) amounts to punishment for the population of Gaza.

"What has happened and is happening is collective punishment, prohibited by international humanitarian law," he said, commenting on the decision of 16 countries to stop funding this UN agency.

Such a decision came after Israel said that a dozen UNRWA workers participated in the Hamas attack on October 7, which triggered the Israeli offensive against Gaza.

Lavrov criticized the "wrong decision" to proceed with a "collective punishment" of UNRWA and, above all, the Palestinians receiving aid from this organization, instead of investigating the available information about the alleged involvement of some UN employees.

The population of Gaza are vermin that have almost wholly embraced the violent agenda proposed and enacted by Hamas, fueled by the encouragement and financing from Iran, the real seat of the troubles and woes in the Middle East.

But for the Joe Stolen/”Que mala” Harris regime, Iran is sacrosanct and untouchable. They appease Iran at every turn.

So the vermin are even more encouraged. Even to the corruption and degradation of the UNRWA to the point of uselessness.

War itself is a collective punishment... and Gaza started it.

I understand why Russia feels this way. The Hamas attacks were supported by Russia because they would distract the US and cause division in the US. With the suspension of funding, the conflict can come to an end. Russia knows the progressive left are filled with Anti-Semites who would put pressure on Biden.

When the enemy acts collectively, as CLEARLY seen here, then Collective Punishment seems to make sense, at least to me.

There are better ways to help the truly needy than funneling the help through Hamas.

From the article: “Over two million Gazans, currently displaced by the Israeli offensive, depend on humanitarian aid from UNRWA, which has over 30,000 employees and is the largest organization in Gaza.”

Egypt and other Arab countries have refused to accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza because they’re worried Hamas would destabilize their governments. Anyone who knows the history of Hamas, would say this is a credible concern.

Just more of using ‘collective punishment’ as a buzzword.
