No its not. Its embarrassing for the US that its true.
The same is also true of Budapest (where I lived twice), Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore and plenty of other cities around the world.
Its fine to criticize this or that aspect of how various countries are ruled. But the key point is they don’t have the graffiti, the litter, the drug addled bums, the crime, the human excrement on the sidewalk, etc etc. It is perfectly possible to have a modern city and not have any of that.
Its a choice. You just have to have a society that will not tolerate it.
Look at footage from American cities in the 30s or 40s or 50s. You saw none of that. People were dressed nicely. There was little crime. The cities were clean.
We could have that again if we reversed course on many of the decisions we’ve made starting in the 60s.
And hats. Everyone wore a hat.
