Working hard or hardly working? It’s the latter for one Connecticut city, according to a new study.

WalletHub ranked Bridgeport at 111th in a study of 116 cities, according to data released on Monday. It only ranked higher than Toledo in Ohio, Newark in New Jersey, Buffalo in New York, Detroit and Burlington in Vermont.

Bridgeport is the only Connecticut city included on the list.

The study looked at “direct” and “indirect” factors like the average work hours, the employment rate, how many households have adults who don’t work, the number of idle youth, average commute times and volunteer hours.

When it came to the “direct work factors,” Bridgeport ranked 111th out of 116. However, it ranked fourth in the “indirect work factors” category.

Bridgeport is in Fairfield County...a breathtakingly wealthy NYC suburb. But the city itself is Third World in every way.

“Burlington in Vermont.”

Burlington is a big college town full of pot smoking burnouts and slackers.
My son looked at going to UVM for graduate school. After visiting he decided against it. Everywhere in downtown Burlington you smell pot. All the people are hippie wannabees.
Many work part time jobs in seasonal tourist industries and then go on some kind of government support when not being a ski bum.
It is unfortunate because its location on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain is very pretty.

Decades ago we used to sail from my friend's camp in Willsboro across the lake to look at the gals on the Burlington beach. I recall getting temporarily grounded near there :(

The other thing about Burlington is that it has one of the highest murder rates per capita now in the USA. This is because they brought a large amount of Somali immigrants there about twenty five years ago. Now, those people are still largely unemployed except in the distribution of drugs.
Routinely killing each other for control of that drug distribution.

Burlington, Vermont finally beats other cities at something!

Yet another reason I am a refugee from that state.

These drones are best called “employees”...not “workers”.

Burnouts and perverts rapidly take over anywhere nice.

Austin, for example.

San Fransico

Key West

Sante Fe

I joke an say West Texas is safe because it requires hard work to get ahead here. Keeps leftist away.

Not a place you want to visit either unless you like inner city crime.

Not only hard work, but just the ability to get government benefits and STAY on those benefits long term.

This is what makes NH different from the other surrounding New England states. It is much easier to get on Welfare and stay on Welfare in MA, RI, CT, VT and even ME. Therefore, IF you want to stay on government assistance you are better staying in those NE states. NY is of course also easy.

This is also why NH has such a low minority population. The only minorities moving here are the ones who actually want to work hard to get ahead. Hispanics & Asians that own restaurants where the entire family works there. I personally know two families like this. I frequent their restaurants.

Here is another example I have personally witnessed:
A Jordanian legal immigrant man bought the gas station in my town. He had been in the US for seven years when he did. He worked three jobs. He rented one gas station where he sold gas and detailed cars. He then bought the one in my town where he rents out the two bays to a local mechanic and he sells fuel. He and his two sons are there seven days a week from 6am to 8pm. I understand he now has a third gas station in MA. All of this in about ten years in our country.

My wife and I spent a lot of time in Burlington about 40 years ago. Was very pleasant. Haven’t been back since and no regrets.

Tax free New Hampshire!

No income tax, no sales tax, you can hunt on Sundays.

Gun ownership is mandatory. If you don't have a gun you can pick up a loaner from any police officer upon entering the state. Return it when you leave.

When you drive through Bridgeport close you windows and close your vents. The stench of weed hits you as soon as you cross the city line.

You do not need a hunting license IF you are hunting on your own property.
