NFL players must be underpaid. So many of them have to act in commercials in order to make ends meet.

Well, Brock Purdy was drafted last in 2022, so he makes less than any quarterback in the league. But still a lot for a 24 year old.

But some NFL players are fiscally responsible. I remember reading that former player Marshawn Lynch put 100% of the money he earned from football into savings. And only lived off his endorsement money. Smart.

I also read Chad Johnson lived in the stadium for his first three years in the NFL, so he didn't have to pay rent. (I am not sure he was allowed to do that, but it worked)

So, not all players are profligate.
