I don't need a Microsoft account to use the Windows laptop I'm typing this post on.

To Musk's point, Microsoft pushes setting up a MS account kind of front and center when setting up your laptop. You have to click No in many places and such to eventually set up a login for the OS not tied to a MS account. Put's it's a stretch to say MS requires it to run Windows.

I skipped Bitcoin, went with Ethereum. So far, so good and I think it has a good future.

Windows Sucks.

So does Google. (and there contract with Verizon also sucks)

I’ve known this since the days when you Dogpile and ScruGoogle were operational search engines.

I didn’t need a “Microsoft Account” for my new laptop. I used my old live.com email address and password. That was it.

I held on to Win7 for as long as I could because it was the last Windows OS designed around the idea of helping users get things done. Later Windows OS’s are built around the idea “how do we pour crap into the users brain to make them buy stuff and believe what we want?” I was slow to consider Linux, but I’ll be following up with this suggestion as well.

As a software designer/programmer/etc I know of no one who loves Windoze in any edition. Some folks like it better than other folks, some use it as a necessity only. Windoze is overweight, slow, requires massive memory to run, and of course is highly vulnerable to bad guys. Most versions of Linux run faster in half of the RAM and with fewer hardware requirements. I have two linux systems running with 4Gb RAM which is 1/4 the recommended RAM for Windoze. And yes they use full graphical interfaces.

Most mainstream apps that run on windows also provide linux versions that run exactly the same as their Windoze variant.

I remember when my son switched from a Windoze laptop to an Apple notebook. He almost did not believe me when I told him that Apple OS was a linux variant.

I'm getting ready to go dual-boot on my machine.

I'm tired of my Windows OS getting raped by Microsoft every 5 weeks.

I dont have a problem with Linux which is simple Simon to use when you go back to Bell Unix but it’s just not that difficult to use a windows laptop. I had this last one going in record time a few months ago. Solid state disk is wonderful. Windows pro latest version

I want my Windows XP search function back.

Why do I have to use SEARCH to find the Control Panel? Why isn't it in the list of left-click programs list?
