Tucker Carlson Throws Putin Under the Bus
Newsweek ^ | 2/29/2024 | Kaitlin Lewis

Posted on 02/29/2024 2:25:46 PM PST by marcusmaximus

Tucker Carlson bashed Russian President Vladimir Putin's justification for invading Ukraine, claiming that the "denazification" of the country was "one of the dumbest things I'd ever heard."

-snip-

Carlson also described his first impression of Putin as someone who "seemed nervous," telling Fridman that the Russian president "went into [the interview] like an over-prepared student."

Fridman specifically asked Carlson for his opinion on Putin's justification for continuing the war in Ukraine, which in part is to achieve the "denazification" of the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is Jewish, has repeatedly dismissed the Kremlin's claims that Kyiv's government is openly "pro-Nazi."

"I thought it was one of the dumbest things I'd ever heard," Carlson told Fridman. "I didn't understand what it meant."

"I hate that whole conversation because it's not real," he continued. "It's just ad hominem. It's a way of associating someone with an evil regime that doesn't exist anymore."

Lex Fridman
(02:16:31) Let me ask you, youā€™ve been pretty close with Donald Trump. Your private texts about him around the 2020 election were made public in one of them. You said you passionately hate Trump. When that came out, you said that you actually no, you love him. So how do you explain the difference?
Tucker Carlson

(02:16:53) My texts reflect a lot of things, including how I feel at the moment that I sent them.

Lex Fridman
(02:19:56) Who were you texting to?

Tucker Carlson
(02:19:57) My producer and I was venting. Itā€™s like a producer I was really close to, and Iā€™ve known him for a long time. Heā€™s really smart. And heā€™s like, he was someone I could be honest with.

“Carlson might as well been Moses carrying the tablets down from Mount Sinai ...”

Dotto that was my impression.

Tucker Carlson

And so as Vladimir Putin himself noted, I donā€™t talk about it very much, but itā€™s true. I applied to the CIA when I was in college because I was familiar with it because of where I lived and had grown up and everything. And I was like, seemed interesting.

(02:30:59) Thatā€™s honestly the only reason. I was like, live in foreign countries, see history happen. Iā€™m for that. I applied to the Operations Directorate. They turned me down on the basis of drug use actually.

Flushed with his impassioned gibberish, he saw himself standing alone on the last barrier of civilization.

This is a strange take.

The most explosive take away was Tucker’s detailed explanation of how the NSA was reading his txt messages and then leaking that information to the press. Of course the evidence is circumstantial, and make Tucker look a little nuts, that was the most interesting bit. And it’s a matter of interpretation that his comments “threw Putin under the buss”.

Almost as if Newspeak wanted to deflect attention.

Yeah, I think the problem Tucker has is the one that I had prior to 2022. While SOME HERE were well aware of the Nazi integration into their Ukrainian Government and Military, in fact the only country in the world openly touting its Nazis today, most, I suspect, were like me and had to do some research to understand the problem, which was well-documented in the West (including Wikipedia). Also, the latest Patrick Lancaster video, where he interviewed Russian-speaking people FORCED to live under Ukrainian occupation since 2014 made it quite clear regarding the Nazi infestation in Ukraine. The video was taken in Avdeevka several days ago, after it was liberated by Russia.

The texts were released because they were used as evidence in the Dominion lawsuit.

Either what Tucker said was taken out of context or he's saying what he has to in order to keep Deep State off his back.

Tucker has exposed the reasons for this war -- the illegal coup the CIA fomented in 2014 that setoff a civil war, the eastward expansion of NATO and biolabs we were running there.

Russia has far better reasons to be in Ukraine than we did for either Iraq war.

Update on the conflict in Ukraine for February 25, 2024...

- Russian forces have cleared Avdeevka, taking over a thousand Ukrainian soldiers prisoner, illustrating the disorganized nature of Ukraineā€™s withdrawal;

- The US Department of Defense admits essential supporting elements for sustaining US weapon systems transferred to Ukraine were never provided, thus inhibiting the effective use of US arms by Ukrainians;

- A fighting force makes up a small percentage of an overall military service because of the large amount of support infantry require on the modern battlefield. Without these supporting elements, a fighting force cannot sustain combat especially against a better supported force;

- US military equipment is especially complex to sustain and maintain on the battlefield, a fact illustrated by US purchases of Russian helicopters for Afghan forces because US helicopters were too difficult to fly, maintain, and sustain;

- The end game for Ukraine is particularly bleak considering the attritional nature of the conflict, Russiaā€™s ability to outproduce Ukraine and its allies, and the unrealistic objectives Ukraine and its Western sponsors are attempting to achieve;

- Attempts to focus on Russian military shortcomings while ignoring Ukrainian military shortcomings produces a fatally flawed perception of the conflict disallowing both the means and objectives of the fighting to be realistically evaluated;

Tucker Carlson

(01:34:36) Heā€™s speaking to multiple audiences around the world. Iā€™m not sure what he hoped to achieve by that interview, I will never know. But I did think that, this guy is not good at telling his story. And I also think honestly on the base of a lotā€¦ I mean, I know this. Very isolated during COVID, very.

(01:34:57)

We keep hearing that heā€™s dying of this or that disease, ā€œHeā€™s got ALS. I mean, I donā€™t know, Iā€™m not his doctor. Thereā€™s a ton of lying about it, I know that. But one thing thatā€™s not a lie, is that he was cloistered away during COVID, I know this, and only dealing with two or three people. And that makes you weird, itā€™s so important to deal with a lot of people to have your views challenged. And you see this with leaders who stay in power too long. Heā€™s been in power 24 years, effectively. Thereā€™s been upsides I think for Russia, the Russian economy, Russian life expectancy, but there are definitely downsides. And one of them is you get weird, and you get autocratic, this is why we have term limits. Very few kings donā€™t get crazy in old age.

You and I have been on Free Republic since its inception.

We know that it is more than a news site. It is a place where conservatives post articles that are newsworthy, and then discuss them. We discuss what is wrong with them, the biases, the lies, the half-truths, as well as the truths and facts.

So as far as that goes, why would you chide another FReeper who had an opinion on something you know. Why come here at all?

I take no side on the Ukraine/Russian war except to note the horrible lack of news from both sides here (and I mean the two wings of the FReeper argument which has devolved into name calling and propaganda). I am retired military who spent many years on a battle staff and am very interested as to how the war fighters are directing the war but any news here is useless as it is biased.

The only certainty I get is that the war is in a stalemate, neither side is rolling up the other side, and whatever tactics they’re both deploying aren’t working except the old tried and true static line butchery of 1864/5 Petersburg Va, Northern France in 1915-8, and the siege of Leningrad, etc.

Why is that?

I think it has to do with the end of the mobility nad maneuver once provided by airpower and fast armor, and frankly, that has me worried because that was the military I served in. This new way of war with drones, instant Internet access to data once difficult to find, electronic eavesdropping on cellular and wireless networks... It is totally ignored on this forum...

In any case, we shouldn’t discourage discussion—I mean real discussion not name calling. If you weren’t doing that I apologize.
