Perhaps. They could have gone after Trump for several years, but they didn't until he declared he was running again. They certainly hate him so they could try to destroy his presidential legacy.

These cases have no merit - they were never designed to survive the appeal process - they were designed for election interference.
The very most the Trump haters hoped for were a few jury convictions in rigged Democrat jurisdictions like DC - timed just right so that until a higher appellate court reverses them, he is technically a convicted felon prior to the election.
After the election these cases go away because - win or lose - We The People will have rendered our own verdict.
