Well, I've never run Ubuntu, but I have run multiple other distros.

The automatic update is a distro issue--not a Linux issue.

Yes, and but the point was that there is a lot of "hot-to" in Linux, including stopping since it seems they can be automatic in some Linux distros. My old but capable PC has been running Mint for about 4 years, but it is mainly only used for Internet and email by Christian brother. Mint wants to update to a supported version but I have not done so thus far. But in Windows (key+i>Windows update) I delay updates for 5 weeks (which may be how long I go before a restart, versus sleep), and Group Policy provides many options for that , including Feature Update Versions (so far) and other things. All GUI.

And if Windows updates ever really prevents Open Shell and Explorer Patcher (and thus 7+Taskbar Tweaker beta) from working, then I intend to do so, as W/11, despite some improvements, overall hinders customization and favors a minimalist interface. (I like the Puppy right click menus as far as Linux is concerned. Also, running as root (single user PC)! Should be a right click option in Linux.)

And the more Windows does this then the more "power users" become more like most Linux users in going behind the scenes.
