My world is slowly fallin' down And the airs not good to breathe. And those of us who care enough, We have to do something.......
[Chorus] Oh... oh What you gonna do about me? Oh... oh What you gonna do about me?
Your newspapers, They just put you on. They never tell you The whole story.
They just put your Young ideas down. I was wonderin' could this be the end Of your pride and glory?
[Chorus]
I work in your factory. I study in your schools. I fill your penitentiaries. And your military too!
And I feel the future trembling, As the word is passed around. "If you stand up for what you do believe, Be prepared to be shot down."
[Chorus]
And I feel like a stranger In the land where I was born And I live like an outlaw. An' I'm always on the run...
An I'm always getting busted And I got to take a stand.... I believe the revolution Must be mighty close at hand...
[Chorus]
I smoke marijuana But I can't get behind your wars. And most of what I do believe Is against most of your laws
I'm a fugitive from injustice But I'm goin' to be free. Cause your rules and regulations They don't do the thing for me
[Chorus]
And I feel like a stranger In the land where I was born And I live just like an outlaw. An' I'm always on the run.
Unremarkable, though largely correct.
No mention of EVs....
This was a good song.

Except now those words pertain to we Americans.
Quicksilver Messenger and
It’s A Beautiful Day are two of my all-time favorites from that era, genre and locale.
Great performers. Truly great
Written over 50 years ago. Very prescient. A favorite then. Thanks for the reminder.
Happy trails was my favorite and Mona my favorite song.
What about you?
You write horribly meaningless titles.
Yeah California hippies. Pretty much a forgotten band now.
I liked the song and the group!
That is the name of the song.
It was brand new idea then .. environment awareness ..we did have third world smog and polluted waters
Trust me I was there
Quicksilver had decent Dan Fran sound musicianship
Never quite hit the A level like the dead or airplane or Joplin
I knew a band member
His little brother technically
Pretty much hippies
Kind of harmless or quaint compared to today
Dave Freiberg was the only member who went on to success in another band, going to Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. I saw Dave playing with Jefferson Starship last year, and he’s still going pretty strong for an 85 year old rock star who survived the 60’s.
A song huh? Maybe I should read the article.
“harmless or quaint compared to today”
Or perhaps just nicer and better behaved?
Mmmm, I’ve got a couple of Quicksilver Messenger Service albums - good day to put ‘em on the turntable. Thanks for the heads-up!
lol - that’s some pinko $**t right there - I don’t care who you are.
