This is not claiming that half of European men are descendants of King Tut but that they have a common ancestor. There is a big difference.
It is even more interesting that less than 1% of Egyptians do not have a common ancestor with King Tut. This indicates that when the Egyptian civilization fell that those who took over the area almost completely killed off the previous residents who remained.
