In Texas, a guy named Raul Meza Jr. was convicted of raping and murdering an 8-year-old girl.
Instead of executing him, they eventually let him out of prison.
He tried to find a place to live, but protesters in 6 different cities drove him out.
After those 6 cities drove him out, he was interviewed on TV, where he said, "In my heart, I know that I will not willfully bring harm to anyone."
The gullible but well meaning citizens of Austin believed him, and they let him live there.
While living in Austin, he murdered two people.

“The gullible but well meaning citizens of Austin...”
Highly doubtful they were either gullible or well meaning.

Execution of convicted murderers is the only way to prevent them from committing another murder.

“In my heart, I know that I will not willfully bring harm to anyone,” he said during an August 1993 news conference, in which he described himself as a born-again Christian and not a threat to society. The death penalty would also have kept him from harming anyone again as well.
Anyone who rapes and kills is essentially irredeemable. Especially a child.

I’m bothered by the phrase “has been indicted on two new murder charges, including one that could carry the death penalty”, why didn’t the other two murders carry the death penalty?

I have granddaughters 8 and 6 and if someone did anything like that to them jail would be the absolute safest place for the perp to be. Fact.
